It’s Time for the U.S. to Recognize Turkey’s Genocide of Armenians

Why did Calvin Coolidge show infinitely more courage than Barack Obama has re: Turkey’s genocide of Armenians?

As a Democrat who believes strongly in human rights I am appalled at President Barack Obama’s indifference to the Armenian genocide that took place in the early part of the 20th century.

As a Democrat, I am embarrassed for my party that one of the most conservative presidents the country has ever had, Calvin Coolidge, showed infinitely more courage in acknowledging the Armenian genocide than Barack Obama.

If that link ever goes down, it’s on the Internet Archive:

President Calvin Coolidge even posed for photos with a rug woven by Armenian orphans of Turkey’s genocidal policies. The rug was given to him as a Christmas present.

Meanwhile, Barack Obama refused to allow the Smithsonian to even display the tapestry, lest it offend the Islamic Government of Turkey!
